- !I am guessing on the order of the two girls who died according to the dates
of birth of the ones we know. Grandpa John and Minnie Lee Divorced shortly after the birth of Donnie. Grandpa never remarried but Grandma did. She Married J.T.Knowles and then later divorced him on Dec. 29 1914. They had one Son who was afflicted some way and he died at about 21. His name was J.C. or Jay C. Knowles. John followed the same line of work as his father - saw milling and timber work.
!Minnie also married a Zebendon before she married J. T. Knowles. They were only married for a very short time. Family tales say that he thought he was getting a " Sugar Mama ". GrandMa Knowles cuaght on fast and dumpted him. Minnie Lee was always known by my family as GrandMa Knowles as that was the last marriage and all the grandchildren knew her as a Knowles. Jack was baptized in the Gapway Baptist church on Apr. 17 1891. He was expelled 17 Nov 1894. Minnie was also expelled but was later restored to fellowship in Feb. 1895 She was baptized 20 Jun 1891. . Jack Ellerbe was never restored to membership A. D. ,(Buck) , and a couple of the other sons were also expelled at a later time for square dancing. A. D. was never restored or joined another church that any of the family know of. One of the sons, Clarence, became a Baptist minister.
John was also elected clerk of Gapway Church 4 months after he was baptized. Elected clerk 15 Aug. 1891. It is said that he was very knowledgable about the scriptures.
John A. Ellerbe owned 160.3 acres of land in Ocala area. Doc #11517, Issue date, 4 Nov 1889. Also a John Ellerbee, not sure if this is John A. or not, rec'd land of 159.99 acres from the gainesville land office, doc # 3218, issue date, 13 Aug 1883. This was homesteaded land under act of 20 May 1862.
Land description for the 160.3 acres is sec 24, twp 17s, R 20 E Marion Co. Fl. dated 4 Nov 1889.
